18

I just turned eighteen. I’m not sure why, but I just never wanted to turn 18. It seems like such a solid and final number. The end of an era, the closing of an age that contained childhood, adolescence, teenage fusses and everything in between. There was drama, friendship, love and infatuation; tears, overwhelming emotions and overriding obsessions. But nothing serious and nothing daunting. Just a freedom and seemingly endless youth. But 18 marks the end of too many adrenaline-filled years and I think it’s funny that I’m an adult now. I don’t think I’ll ever think of myself as an adult.

I know this is slightly more depressing than your average “OMG I’m 18!!” posts, and I’m sorry for not updating and then posting this crap. It’s just been some tough long days full of studying and I think my brain is holding too much redundant shizzle. Talk to you again when I’m sane, lovelies. kisses.

    happy happy 18th! x
hah i know what you mean. but then again, i'm turning 17 soon… 17 is like nonsense age. it's not 16, and not 18. just right in the middle.

  2. HAPPY BIRTHDAY (:

  3. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! Wahooooo ๐Ÿ˜€
(love that photo) Don't worry you never have to be an adult, I'm 22 and I'm still a child ๐Ÿ˜‰

18 is not bad. Wait till you turn 20. Then the adulthoodness of it all will dawn on you.

  5. Wow!
    You look really gorgeous!

ohh happy birthday! i thought the same thing when turning 18….so over-hyped. my initial thought was, i never have to worry again to be asked for my ID, but in fact, nobody had wanted to see it for the past few years now, so it really doesn't matter.
hah, just think of the big ol' 20! i recently hit the weak spot, marking the END OF THE TEENAGE ERA, it was terrifying. being asked "how old are you?" – "20." gahh. it just gets downhill from here.
oh screw me, what kind of depressing shit am i writing here? be happy and celebrate! :) 18 is great, it's the 'just got legal' thing, so no adult-pressure! :)
happy happy birthday again! :~) xx

  7. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DEAR!! and don't worry, life gets only better :) we also thought it will kind of "end" when we turn 18, but as u can see, we are still here and we still don't behave like adults :))
you look gorgeous on the photo, as always!
    have a lovely birthday!

Don't worry about not being a kid… and 18 isn't exactly an adult haha.

As a 20 year-old, I can assure you that the best is yet to come.

I don't find it depressing at all to be honest!
You do have a point, and I think all of us ponder about this sometimes when the time of the year comes to remind us that we are reaching a certain age…

Hopefully, you'll find a lot of new doors open being 18, having less boundaries of rules and all.

Happy Birthday! If it's any consolation I felt exactly the same, and still feel too young to deal with some of the stuff I have to x

    Happy birthday Jin!

I know, it's scary, but just remember living young! There's no rush. It's just an age. I'm 22, and I still feel young as ever :)

Looking forward to your next posts :) Good luck with schoolwork too btw.

Felt the same way when I turned 18! Now I'm 19 and I finally got over the 18-thing (however: I sometimes forget I'm 19 and tell people I'm 18) but jeez… I don't wanna turn 20 this year!

  21. Crystal says:

Happy birthday! Yeah, turning 18 wasn't the greatest because it seems like ages stop mattering after that, but honestly it doesn't have much of an impact on your day to day life. Plus, as long as you can't think of yourself as an adult, then you don't really quite become one, haha! Pretty sure being adult is more state of mind than anything.

  22. Anja says:

I think it's great to be 18, can buy alcohol, legally go to clubs.. i'm more afraid to tun 20, because then you're not teen and this is not fair !

  23. Susanne says:

    hell, a big girl :)

    and happy belated birthday!:)

  24. Annie says:

    Happy (belated?) birthday!
I don't think it's weird you feel kind of mixed about turning 18 – I know I will, when the time comes.
But I once read a wonderful quote that said, "Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional."
And with that in mind, I'm sure you adrenaline-filled days are not over just yet :]

  25. Enida says:

    Happy 18th birthday!

I totally feel the same like you! I think it's kind of scary that I'm eighteen now, I wish that I was a little 6 year old girl :)

I agree with the first comment on this post, turning 17 soon, too (well.. in case you consider 3 months soon) and it's just a weird age. :/

  37. Clare Welsh says:

i had a mid-life crisis at 18; i spent 300 dollars on vintage boots from urban outfitters. despite beginning my 18th year behind on rent, it turned out to be a real run-through-the-streets time of life, and at 19, i can honestly say it just keeps getting better.

    also: lovely picture :)

  38. S says:

    Happy birthday!
I was okay with turning 18.. just really not looking forward to 19.
